    Principal's Message

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

    Welcome back to another great school year Dragons! My name is Dustin Blake and is my second year as the Principal of the incredible, amazing, probably world famous,  Iron River School. I am extremely proud, excited, and blessed to be able to give back to this community. My goal for this year is to pass on my energy and passion for education to as many teachers, students, and parents as possible. I believe that if we make learning engaging, fun, and enjoyable for our students now, they will be inspired to become lifelong learners. 

    Iron River School offers Preschool to Grade 8 programming to serve the needs of students in the Iron River area and is an exciting place for our students to learn! Our students are very important to us and we continually strive to make Iron River School a safe and caring school, where each child is loved and cared for. Our Mission Statement is, “with enthusiasm and support we challenge learners to achieve their highest potential and develop into responsible and caring citizens.” 

    Our staff focuses on meeting the individual needs of our students first and operates from a student-centered model of instruction. We believe in a holistic approach to education and supporting our students’ individual learning needs. We continually focus on implementing the best instructional practices available to successfully engage students in meeting the curriculum outline in the Alberta Program of Studies. Iron River staff are also committed to the implementation of a school-wide Moral Intelligence program that our student leadership group helps support.  

    This community is so amazing and it means the world to me. We have an amazing family here that will always do our best to help each student reach their maximum potential. We highly value our parent volunteers and our incredible PAC. Please don’t hesitate to stop in for a visit or to jump right in and get involved.
